breaking boundaries through creative arts
The Lomas Music and Art Festival features creative work that defies categorization and highlights the commonalities between various styles, genres, and groups. The festival sources musicians and artists from cities across rural NY state, gathering them in Oneonta for an outdoor event of live art, vendors, food, and of course — music.

Breakfast Calculus
-
Breakfast Calculus is a duo project of Teagan Faran (strings) and Leo Sussman (winds). Based in Ithaca, NY, the nesting pair met while personifying various rare birds in a John Luther Adams piece, and they haven’t stopped squawking and honking together ever since.
Dedicated to rambunctiously pluralistic noise-making, Leo and Teagan celebrate life’s simple pleasures – from buttermilk waffles to fundamental theorems – through a scrumptious hodgepodge of partially-derivative music. The duo's musical domain continuously integrates original tunes, jocular arrangements, and unbounded improvisations. Recent audience choice award-winners at Ithaca’s Old Greeny Fringe Festival and recipients of the New York Women Composers’ Seed Money Grant, they’re equally at home on a concert stage, in a blackbox theater, and in front of a class of second-graders.

Gnp
-
GNP is a jazz piano trio featuring Tyler Giroux on piano, Matt Niedbalski on drums, and Dylan Perrillo on bass. Tyler, Matt, and Dylan have been playing together for several years. Their first performances as a group were at the Speakeasy 518 in Albany, New York, a cocktail bar known for its prohibition era ambiance and live jazz. Through countless gigs the trio grew together as a unit, playing as a stand-alone group as well as backing up instrumental soloists and vocalists.
In 2020, a shared passion for original music led to the decision to record their debut album as a group, “Codes.” “Codes” is a reference to the band’s musical communication, the unique vocabulary and cues the group developed over years of playing and growing together. The album consists of 9 original pieces composed by Tyler, Matt, and Dylan, as well as one standard, Gershwin’s “But Not For Me.” You can check out the album here.
Since the release of “Codes” GNP has performed at a myriad of festivals and theaters in and around New York. A favorite moment of the group was backing up the legendary vocalist Sheila Jordan as a part of the Québec Jazz in June festival. GNP released it’s sophomore album “Returning” on Signal Path Records in January of 2025.

Killdeer Trio
-
Inspired by their roots in Upstate NY, Killdeer Trio answers the constant invitation to explore the surrounding unknown. The band draws from their diverse musical experiences in experimental and mainstream music to create a sound that challenges expectations of genre and style.
Killdeer Trio is co-led by bassist Evan Jagels, drummer Sebastian Green, and guitarist Wyatt Ambrose. They perform all original music composed by each member, and arranged collectively.
The trio has opened for Joel Frahm, and collaborated with grammy-nominated violinist Sara Caswell and Laura Andrea Leguía of Gabriel Alegria’s Afro Peruvian Sextet. Individually the members have performed with a wide variety of artists: from jazz legends Stacy Dillard and Ray Vega to rock bands Palehound and Dazzling Killmen and multidisciplinary improvisation group Duo Extempore.
